Tate Burks

A San Jose-based musician blending a professional background in music with peer support training to offer inclusive, patient piano lessons. Dedicated to fostering musical growth and exploring new soundscapes.

I am a musician and educator dedicated to fostering a creative, accessible, and deeply supportive environment for learners of all levels. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music and ongoing training as a Peer Support Specialist, I bring a person-centered methodology to my piano instruction that prioritizes the student’s individual journey over rigid traditionalism. My work is deeply informed by my academic interests in disabled and queer musicology, where my research writing has focused on the intersections of disability, gender, and popular music . I believe that music education .....Beyond the piano bench, my artistic practice extends into audio production and transformative performance art. Whether I am layering soundscapes in a DAW or exploring the expressive potential of the stage, my work is rooted in the belief that performance is a vital tool for connection and self-discovery. Based in West San Jose, I am currently accepting new students who are looking for a patient, inclusive, and technically grounded approach to the keys.
